The book includes two works by the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche: On the Use and Abuse of History for Life and On Truth and Lies in a Nonmoral Sense, both written in 1873. The first was published by Nietzsche, while the second – only after his death. "Perhaps Nietzsche's works on lies and history can lead to rethinking the history of our own homeland, the tales that have been amassed, and stop fooling about and worshiping idols," the collection is commented by its author and translator Igors Šuvajevs.
The text On the Use and Abuse of History for Life is a first publication in Latvian, while On Truth and Lies in a Nonmoral Sense is already known to Latvian readers. However, Igors Šuvajevs’ translation can be considered the first academically commented translation.
