Paradise is Zēgners’ second collection of poetry, which brings together texts written between 2014 and 2021.
The collection covers various thematic lines, united by the emotional character of the texts; their focus is personal experience, metaphorically reflecting on the definition of a possible ‘paradise’ and the phenomena that suppress or hinder its achievement.

“Despite the apparent tendency towards the revelation of some spiritual dimension and the realisation of an imaginary vertical, the poetry of the new collection is free of didactic conceptualism, metaphysical somnambulism or romanticised exaltation. Compared to the first collection, Henriks Eliass Zēgners’ poetic voice has become deeper, more nuanced in terms of its timbre, and the melodies of the overtones invite us to go to the light, even if it is blinding.” (Pēteris Draguns)
Henriks Eliass Zēgners is a poet, editor-in-chief of the online magazine Satori, and an organiser of cultural processes. Zēgners’ debut poetry collection Elements (2013) was nominated for several literary prizes.
