The book comprises a rich material on Janis Rozentāls Riga Upper Secondary Art School, its place and role in the context of Latvian art and art education, beginning with its foundation in the 19th century as an evening school for drawing and sign painting, till present day.
The school’s history is reflected in seven chapters, including pupils’ study works; the book is supplemented with an English summary and lists of the school’s directors and alumni.
