An album of photographs by Andrejs Grants, consisting of a selection from three collections: “Impressions”, “Around Latvia” and “Colleagues, friends, acquaintances”, introducing one of Latvia’s foremost talents in photography, as well as the country itself – its landscape, milieu and people. True, this is no picture-postcard land, rather an insight into human relationships captured within the milieu, the wonder of the “eternity of the moment” that the photographer talks about, when a polysemous scene from life suddenly appears in the viewfinder.
The album opens with a text by art historian Laima Slava, introducing Grants as a photographer who began his work in the 1980s, followed by an interview that provides an insight into his creative principles and thinking.
