Amālijas Street 5A

In her collection the photographer Inta Ruka has remained true to her creative method, which art historian Eduards Kļaviņš has described as 'contemplative anthropocentrism'.

During five summers, from 2004 up to 2008, continuing to photograph only in natural light, using a static camera and black and white film, she has created the cycle 'Amālija iela 5a' ('Amālijas Street 5a') – photographs on people living in one particular house. Inta Ruka's series of photographs is a truthful account, recorded with emotional sensitivity, of all of our lives, our time and our own society and people.
