The album collects more than 200 works by one of the foremost Latvian painters of the last third of the 20th century, also an outstanding draughtswoman Inta Celmiņa.
“It is difficult to say why, when contemplating paintings by certain artists, one is overcome by a sensation of happiness. And not even because there might be something cheery or particularly optimistic about them. But this feeling envelops you – and that’s it. You could also say that the anticipation of encountering the works by these artists is like receiving an invitation to a journey, one that promises something of importance to you, something missing from everyday life. For me, that is exactly what it is like with paintings by Inta Celmiņa,” says art historian Laima Slava.
