“In Bird’s Sleep” is Inese Zandere’s fourth collection of poetry for “grownups”.

Inese Zandere (b. 1958) is an author of more than twenty books for children, editor of several dozens of books, author of opera librettos, editor of the magazine „Rīgas Laiks”, editor-in-chief of the „Liels un mazs” Publishers. Zandere has received the Literary Award of Ojārs Vācietis (2003) for her third collection of poetry „Melnās čūskas maiznīca” (Bakery of the Black Snake; Neputns, 2003); she was also a recipient of the Annual Culture Award of the Year of the newspaper “Diena” (2004) and the Award of the Year in Literature (2004).
