Those Cursed Tuscans

Curzio Malaparte

Curzio Malaparte’s (1898–1957) book of essays “Those Cursed Tuscans” (Maledetti Toscani, 1956) written in the after-war period is Malaparte’s dedication to his native Tuscan.

„It is a declaration of love, imbued with painful cynicism and bitter irony, to this wonderful Italian region.

„A Tuscan” sometimes becomes a symbolic image whose features are recognizable to people from different nations,” writes Dace Meiere, the translator of the book into Latvian.

Kurcio Malaparte / Alinari

This book by the Publishers Neputns is special also because of its illustrations – more than 20 photographs from the legendary photo studio Fratelli Alinari, founded by brothers Alinari in 1852 in Florence.
