The book by Ilze Konstante tells about an outstanding painter, renown master of portrait, brilliant colorist. His time was 1950s and the very beginning of 1960s – a time when the strict rules of Socialist Realism to a great extent determined artistic activities in this country. Leo Kokle was among those few who dared to follow his own artistic call, making around himself kind of an oasis – a shelter for creative spirit.
