Boriss Bērziņš

Compiler Laima Slava

An album presenting the artistic legacy of Boriss Bērziņš (1930–2002), a legend in Latvian art, painter and outstanding draughtsman of the late 20th century, prize-winner of the Cleveland Drawing Biennale in the UK.

A most colourful and forceful personality, whose influence was felt by all of his contemporaries, an artist whose presence in art processes in Latvia was a measure of creative freedom and creative spirit. The artist’s talent and the wide scope of his approaches to form are revealed in the development of a symbiosis of means of expression and human interests, seen in the three sections of this album – “Colour”, “Form” and “Story”.

Quotations from conversations with Boriss Bērziņš, an interview with the artist and an overview of his biography.
